Following a somewhat embarassing premature release of Burnout Paradise's "Toy Cars" DLC a couple of weeks back on Xbox Live, Criterion has finally set a legitimate release date for the nine-car pack. Keep an eye on your respective system's digital shopping center this coming Thursday morning -- that's when Criterion anticipates the miniature vehicles will be released upon the inhabitants of Paradise City.
Commenting on the possibility of a Netflix-style streaming service making its way to Xbox 360s in Europe, UK Xbox boss Neil Thompson admits to Eurogamer that such plans, well ... don't look too promising. "Netflix is a great deal in the US," says Thompson, who believes that the Live service has to evolve "in different territories at different speeds." Though uncertain as to what the future holds for each of those territories, he adds, "We're concentrating on delivering the services we've got and bolstering the content we've got."
This past week saw a massive resupply of ammunition for both the Sony and Microsoft fanboys on the treacherous European front of the current console war -- first of all, the highly anticipated Killzone 2 nabbed the top spot in the ELSPA GfK ChartTrack Top 40, and became the fourth fastest-selling Sony-published title ever released in the UK. Its first place finish in the Top 40 charts gave it an edge over number two finisher Halo Wars. You read that right, people. Killzone 2 has become, as many of its zealous acolytes claimed it would, a "Halo killer."
We were treated -- that's the appropriate word -- to a brief sneak peek at Telltale Games' upcoming episodic adventure series, Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, this past weekend at San Francisco's Wonder-Con. Although early, the taste of things to come was promising enough to get us as excited as Wallace on a trip to the cheese shop.
Huh, well, this is a strange one. With very few (very undead) exceptions, this isn't a great month to be a gamer on the 360 or PS3. But if you're a Nintendo fan, you've got a lot to look forward to. A new Pokemon, MadWorld and the return of Ready 2 Rumble are just a few of the treats you can anticipate in March.
